Public libraries can access tt-exchange donations

We have good news!

We’re happy to announce that public libraries are now eligible to request a range of donated IT products.

That means they’ll be able to access a range of IT donations – from Microsoft Office software and servers to Symantec security products to Adobe Acrobat XI and loads more.

Upgrade paths for charities moving to Windows 10

Windows 10 is now available worldwide and it’s highly recommended that anyone using an older version of Windows should upgraded sooner than later.

Microsoft have made many upgrades free to the public, so tt-exchange donations might not be the best route for your charity.

To figure out what to do, just decide whether your charity would benefit most from the Pro or Enterprise version, then take a look at the upgrade paths below to work out your best route going forward. Easy!

The Sabre Charitable Trust – transforming teacher training with tech

The Sabre Charitable Trust is a charity working to improve the lives of poor and marginalised children in Ghana.

They focus particularly on improving children’s access to quality, early-years education, which involves building better schools and delivering transformational teacher training among other things.

This case study explains the sorts of things they are doing to make sure that their award-winning Transformational Teacher Training programme has the best impact it possibly can on children and teachers in the Ghana.

How a small Scottish charity is using “Rolls-Royce software”

The Dumfries and Galloway Family History Society is a charity that promotes the study of family history across three counties in Southwest Scotland. Due to the nature of modern research, having computers available for researchers is essential.

“Having been able to upgrade all our computers means that we’re all singing off the same songsheet, whether we are here or working outside or at home – there are no issues with file conversions, etc.”

What’s New in Windows 10

Windows 10 is here! Useful features for end-users include a new Start menu, web browser, personal digital assistant, and more. IT admins will be more (or at least equally) interested in features like Azure Active Directory support and Windows Update for Business.

Below are some of the most important new features for both users and IT professionals in this version of Windows.

Securing Britain’s animal welfare champions with Bitdefender

The Hull and East Riding branch of the RSPCA has recently undertaken a complete overhaul of their internal IT systems thanks to donations arranged through the tt-exchange programme.

“The centre deals with rehabilitation and rehoming,” explains Alison Ripley, the branch’s General Manager. “We see cruelty, neglect and abandonment, but we try hard to play a preventative role rather than simply coming in after the event.”
